Revolutionizing Real Estate: Zillow Harnesses AI for Immersive Home Tours

Zillow, is making waves in the industry by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its new product, “Listing Showcase”. This innovative tool aims to provide a more immersive and interactive experience for potential home buyers, setting it apart from traditional home listings.

The Listing Showcase, a product of ShowingTime+, a brand under Zillow Group, utilizes advanced photography features and interactive floor plans to enhance the online home viewing experience. Some of its key features include an immersive interactive floor plan, seamless toggling between photos and virtual tours, a highlighted floor plan overlay, media grouped by room for easy navigation, and a self-rotating high-resolution photo carousel.

AI plays a crucial role in the creation of Showcase listings by selecting “hero images” based on buyer preferences. These images are then connected to corresponding rooms in the interactive floor plan or room-by-room displays, providing a comprehensive view of the property.

Zillow plans to further enhance the user experience by introducing new AI-enabled features and functionalities in the coming months. For instance, listing agents will soon be able to use AI-generated insights to highlight the most attractive features of a home in their listings.

The first iteration of Listing Showcase is currently available in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Seattle. It will be sold by subscription and be available to a select number of listing agents in each market.

Zillow’s shift towards AI and immersive technology aligns with its broader strategy of building a “housing super app” that caters to various aspects of real estate including buying, selling, and renting. This move comes after Zillow abandoned its iBuying venture and is part of its commitment to increase engagement, customer transactions, and revenue per customer transaction.

Zillow’s integration of AI into its home listing process is a game-changer in the real estate industry. By providing a more immersive and interactive experience, Zillow is not only enhancing the home buying process but also setting a new standard for online home listings.
