Japanese Adults Express Concerns Over the Usage of AI Chatbots
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has been advancing rapidly in recent years, with many companies introducing AI chatbots to enhance their customer service experience. However, a recent survey in Japan has shown that 70% of Japanese adults express concerns over the usage of AI chatbots.
The survey was conducted by the Japan Information Center for Science and Technology (JICST) in November 2021, and it involved 1,210 respondents aged 18 to 69. The results revealed that 70% of the respondents felt anxious about the increasing use of AI chatbots in their daily lives. The concerns were mainly related to the potential loss of jobs and the inability of AI chatbots to provide personalized services.
One of the major concerns among the respondents was the loss of jobs. With AI chatbots replacing human workers in customer service roles, many Japanese adults fear that the rise of AI technology will lead to a decrease in job opportunities. Moreover, they worry that the jobs that remain will require skills that they do not possess, rendering them unemployable.
Another concern among the respondents was the inability of AI chatbots to provide personalized services. Many Japanese adults value personalized services, and they feel that AI chatbots are unable to understand their unique needs and preferences. This, in turn, may lead to dissatisfaction with the services provided by companies that rely solely on AI chatbots.
The survey also showed that Japanese adults are more accepting of AI chatbots in specific situations. For example, 80% of the respondents stated that they would be comfortable using AI chatbots to purchase goods online. However, they were less accepting of AI chatbots in situations that require more personalized services, such as healthcare or financial planning.
The survey conducted by the JICST highlights the concerns of Japanese adults over the usage of AI chatbots. While AI technology has many benefits, it is important for companies to take into consideration the concerns of their customers and find ways to address them. Companies that provide personalized services, such as healthcare and financial planning, should consider incorporating both AI chatbots and human workers to provide the best possible service to their customers. By doing so, they can strike a balance between the benefits of AI technology and the needs and preferences of their customers.
