ICE Poker, a Popular Metaverse Casino, Attracts Thousands of Monthly Players and $3.2m in Revenue

A Decentraland casino is thriving with more than 100,000 monthly players and $3.2m in revenue. ICE Poker, a community governed metaverse casino operated by Decentral Games, has become one of the most popular destinations in Decentraland thanks to its ability to offer real cash prizes by completing daily challenges and competing in poker tournaments. Decentral Games also relies on a novel collection of ‘wearables’ to promote the ICE Poker venue.

Within the metaverse, ICE Poker is marketed as a “free-to-play” game, and access is limited to those who own a wearable device – which costs at least 2.4 ETH ($6900) on marketplaces such as OpenSea.

Decentral Games’ play-to-earn poker platform has around 6,000 players each day, accounting for more than 30% of Decentraland’s monthly users. According to Miles Anthony, founder of Decentral Games, the game has earned over $7.5 million in revenue through various income streams in the previous three months.

What is Decentraland?

Decentraland is a virtual world browser-based platform with 3D functionality. Users may buy virtual plots of land in the platform as NFTs using the MANA cryptocurrency, which utilizes the Ethereum blockchain. It was opened to the general public in February 2020 and is governed by the non-profit Decentraland Foundation.

Users may construct the land by utilizing Decentraland’s own editor or importing 3D models from external software. T-shirts and caps may be traded for aesthetic items, such as rings and headphones.

Decentraland was developed by Argentinians Ari Meilich and Esteban Ordano, who launched it in 2017. The game’s first map, Genesis City, included 90,601 pieces of digital real estate. In 2017, the company raised $26 million through an initial coin offering (ICO).

The company has built up significant LAND holdings that are home to popular brands such as Atari and published game developer Bored Ape Yacht Club, which includes titles such as Alien Worlds & Axie Infinity.

How To Play ICE Poker on Decentraland

Decentral Games’ Ice Poker is a free metaverse poker game in which players can win tokens by completing daily objectives and vying with each other on a daily leaderboard. ICE is the in-game currency that encourages player mobility and enables item upgrades within the video game. The governance token, DG, gives community voting rights to change economic incentives and distribute fees collected in the Decentral Games treasury.

To play, players must first obtain at least one ICE Wearable through purchase or delegation. A certain number of Chips are assigned to each player, who may use them to participate in ICE Poker games.

Players can earn Wearable by:

  • Completing the daily checklist and three achievements in ICE Poker
  • Competing for daily leaderboard multipliers based on Chips net winnings
  • Delegating NFT wearables to other players for a share of the revenue
  • Receiving a revenue share for NFT wearables from a delegating party
  • Creating new NFT wearable and selling them on the marketplace
  • Collecting and trading on ultra-rare DG Diamond Handswatches
  • Mining for ICE to sell to other players is required in order to produce more uncommon NFT wearables.
  • To earn DG, the Decentral Games governance token, and fee distribution rights in the DG ecosystem, you must score highly on the monthly top board.

Ice poker currently has over 100K monthly active users who are attracted to its unique combination of free crypto rewards (NFT wearables) combined with real cash prizes paid out through Metamask transactions from Decental Games’ smart contracts.

Another Great Metaverse Win

The Decentraland metaverse is growing fast and ICE Poker is leading the charge in terms of casino popularity. In addition to the thousands of monthly active users, ICE Poker has generated millions in revenue since its launch in 2021.

This makes it one of Decentraland’s most successful gaming venues and a key part of its burgeoning economy. We expect this trend to continue as Decentaland’s user base continues to grow. If you haven’t tried ICE Poker yet, we recommend you check it out!
